Whole-House Remodeling in Los Angeles

One licensed company for a whole-house remodel: kitchen, bathrooms, layout, and the roof when it is part of the same job. 1800 Construction Inc., CSLB #1113641, Class B, General Building.

A whole-house remodel is several trades on one set of plans: usually a kitchen, at least one bathroom, flooring, paint, electrical or plumbing that the old house needs, and sometimes the roof. Splitting that across three unlicensed crews is how schedules slip and nobody owns the leak where the roof meets the new wall.

We schedule this work in Los Angeles, Burbank, and Glendale, and in the San Gabriel Valley: Glendora, Covina, West Covina, San Dimas, and Azusa. The same crew also covers nearby communities on those routes, including La Verne, Claremont, Walnut, Baldwin Park, Irwindale, and Pomona. There is no second storefront. The office is 3435 Wilshire Blvd, Ste 1400, Los Angeles, CA 90010, and the inspection happens at the house.

What is in a whole-house scope

Kitchen

Scoped the same way as a kitchen remodel, then coordinated with the floors and the electrical in the rest of the house.

Bathrooms

One or more baths, including waterproofing. Details are on the bathroom remodeling page.

Layout

Walls that can come out, and walls that are holding the house up. We do not remove a wall because a drawing hoped it was free.

Roof and exterior

Included when the roof is due or the addition ties into it. See roofing for a roof-only job.

How it runs

  1. Walk the house. We want the problems, the budget range, and whether you can live there.
  2. Written scope and an itemized estimate. Allowances are labeled as allowances.
  3. Plans and permits when the city requires them. Los Angeles is LADBS. The San Gabriel Valley cities and Burbank and Glendale use their own departments.
  4. Construction in phases, with one lead you can call.
  5. Inspections the permit requires, then a room-by-room walkthrough.

Photos

Exterior siding and a covered porch from recent jobs. Bathroom and kitchen photos are on those pages. No city is named here, because these photos were not labeled with one. Roof photos with a recorded city stay on the roofing page.

What a whole-house remodel costs

Focused remodel

Kitchen, one bath, and finishes. Often the lower part of a $100,000–$400,000 planning band, sometimes under it.

Most of the house

Several rooms, systems, and a real kitchen. This is the middle of that band for a lot of Los Angeles houses.

Layout and structure

Walls removed, baths relocated, roof tied in. This is where projects pass $400,000.

The $100,000–$400,000 span is a 2026 planning range for major remodels in this market, not a menu. Your itemized estimate is the only price 1800 Construction will stand behind. Financing with $0 down is discussed on that estimate when you want it.

Questions homeowners ask

A major whole-house remodel in Los Angeles is often planned between $100,000 and $400,000 in 2026. The number moves with the size of the house, whether walls come out, how many bathrooms are rebuilt, the kitchen, and whether the electrical or plumbing has to be brought up with the finishes. Some houses land below that band. Some go past it. It is not a price-per-square-foot package. The itemized estimate after the walkthrough is the number.

Many whole-house remodels take several months of construction after the scope is signed and permits are issued. Design choices and plan check sit in front of demolition. We will not quote "three months" for every house. The schedule is part of the estimate for your plans.

California requires a contractor license when the job, including labor and materials, is $500 or more. A whole-house remodel is that kind of job. Class B, General Building, is the license classification for a contractor taking a project that uses several trades on a structure. Our number is CSLB #1113641. Look it up before you hire anyone, including us.

Sometimes, if one bathroom and a path through the house stay usable. If the kitchen, the only bath, and the floors are all open at once, plan to stay somewhere else for that phase. We will say which phase is which before work starts.

Yes. Those are separate pages with their own scopes: roofing, kitchen remodeling, and bathroom remodeling. A whole-house contract is for when more than one of those belongs in the same set of plans.
